About Snow Valley Counselling
Since 2016, I have been living and working in beautiful Fernie, BC. I have been a Psychologist since 2015, with a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology from City University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Calgary. I have post-graduate training in somatic-based psychotherapy, grief, relationships, trauma, mindfulness, emotion regulation and over 20 years of experience in the field of mental health and counselling.
I knew I wanted to work in a helping profession from a young age. Experiencing a significant loss at the age of 29 was a guiding influence, personally and professionally. This loss catapulted me onto a path to pursue passions such as yoga teacher training, traveling to India, meditation retreats, and graduate school. I have worked at Alberta Health Services (in-patient, out-patient, outreach), non-profit agencies, schools, and as a volunteer co-facilitating grief groups.
I enjoy baking bread, camping, yoga, and playing with my kids. I love to learn and believe it is important to guide my clients to areas that I would also be willing to go, or have been myself. I participate in regular training, consultation, and supervision.
“The curious paradox is that, when I accept myself as I am, then I can change.”
-Carl Rogers
