Dayna Lidster, MC, Psychologist

Welcome to Snow Valley Counselling.

As a Psychologist licensed in British Columbia, with over 20 years of clinical experience, I have served the Elk Valley and area in private practice since 2016.

With a master’s degree in Counselling Psychology, I have postgraduate training in evidence-based approaches, including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). I also have specialized training in somatic and “bottom-up” approaches, including Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP) and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), with a focus on nervous system regulation.

My work focuses on supporting adults navigating concerns such as emotional overwhelm, experiences of trauma, anxiety, depression, challenges in relationships, workplace stress, and parenting. I’m also passionate about working with individuals coping with grief and loss, life transitions, and symptoms of ADHD.

My role is to provide a space where we can explore challenging issues together with compassion and curiosity. Through the process of counselling, I aim to support you in deepening self-understanding, moving through challenges, and creating meaningful changes.

“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”
-Anais Nin

I value:

Collaboration, Open-Heartedness, and Research-Based Psychotherapy.

I offer professional and evidence-based counselling, while meeting you where you are.

Everyone struggles and feels overwhelmed at times: with loss, relationship challenges, life transitions, or day to day. Counselling can help you with understanding your emotions, coping in a different way, becoming more aware of your patterns, and expressing yourself in new ways.

You are not alone.

  • The decision to begin counselling can be challenging and you may feel quite vulnerable, and sometimes fear that you will be judged.

  • I strive to meet you where you are at, hold non-judgmental space and together discover a path forward.
